When we first traveled to Sobier, Haiti in 2014, we recognized there were many needs in the community. A new medical clinic was just beginning to be built and our team was beginning a relationship with a community of people that would continue for five years. In the past five years, we have seen the medical clinic building completed; a cistern built; a bathroom near the clinic done; and the wall around the clinic started. We have also been able to distribute 150 water filtration buckets and fix some buckets that had been distributed by other teams.

As we head to Sobier on this trip, I am excited that we are going to continue our work in construction, Bible school, and water filtration. I am also excited that we will be spending more intentional time on spiritual matters doing men’s ministry and women’s ministry. Last year, Alisha spent several evenings leading a Bible Study with our cooks, and we hope to expand the audience for this Bible Study. We are also planning to lead a Men’s Bible Study and discussion to discuss the role of men in the community and the responsibility they need to be undertaking to lead the community into a brighter future.

Please join me in prayer for our nine team members: Alisha, Heather, Brooke, Katelyn, Jordan, Zach, Micah, Elijah, and Matt. We will be traveling June 25-July 3. If you would be willing to serve as a prayer partner for one of the team members, please contact me (matt@livingtheadventure.net or 618-830-6670) and I will pair you up with a team member.
